The FKF Electoral Board’s Appeals Committee has on Monday, October 28, 2019, opened its doors to any disputes concerning the nomination exercise which culminated on Wednesday last week.
The committee is set to listen to appeals and disputes submitted to it between today, Monday, and Wednesday, after which the committee will issue verdicts, which will be final and binding.
“Section 7 of the Electoral Code provides any aspirants, who were not happy with the decisions of the board, recourse in the Appeals Committee,” said Board Chairman Prof. Edwin Wamukoya.
“Aspirants who wish to lodge appeals will be required to pay a non-refundable fee, as is stipulated in Section 7 of the Electoral Code, and thereafter send their appeals physically to our address, or on the appeals committee’s email address, firstname.lastname@example.org,” he added.
The Board had earlier on Thursday last week revealed a preliminary list of candidates for the County and National elections.
After the Appeals and Disputes window elapses, the Board is expected to publish a final list of candidates on November 2, 2019, ahead of the polls.
Voter verification, meanwhile, will be done between November 4, and November 9, 2019.
A preliminary list of eligible voters will be published on November 11, 2019, after which disputes surrounding the voter register will be heard, by the Board, between November 13, and November 15, 2019, and thereafter by the Appeals Committee, if need be, between November 18, and November 20, 2019.
The final list of eligible voters will be published on November 21, 2019.
County elections have been scheduled for November 23, while the National polls have been lined up on December 7, 2019.
