Western, Lower Rift aspirants hand in nomination papers ahead of county polls

Aspirants from Narok, Kajiado, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia Counties have on Monday, February 17, 2020, submitted their nomination papers to the FKF Electoral Board ahead of the upcoming repeat FKF Elections.

Scrutiny was observed as the aspirants handed in the relevant documents to the Board’s secretariat after which acknowledgement slips were handed to those who passed the eligibility criteria as stipulated in the Electoral Code

Among candidates who submitted their documents is,Kelvin Mwangu, who will be contesting the chairperson’s position in  Vihiga County.

“The nomination process has been seamless and we have experienced warm reception from the board’s secretariat ,” said Kelvin Mwangu.

” I aspire to set up proper youth structures to help develop football in the county and also organize coaching courses to so as to conduct professional football in Vihiga,” he continued

FKF Electoral Board Chairman Kentice Tikolo, meanwhile, noted that the nomination process has been seamless.

“We have ensured robust communication systems to keep the participants well informed on the relevant information regarding the elections. We endeavor to have a smooth process that is free, transparent and fair,”said Kentice Tikolo.

The deadline for nomination to county electoral positions has been set on February 18, 2020, after which a preliminary list of candidates will be released on  February 21, 2020. County polls, meanwhile, have been slated for Saturday, March 14, 2020 while national polls will be held on Friday, March  27, 2020.

The deadline for submission of relevant documents is on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, after which the Board will publish a preliminary list of candidates on February 21, 2020.

County elections have been scheduled for Saturday, March 14, with the national elections slated for Friday, March  27, 2020.
